Other than one or two fleeting moments, I found this movie to be a ghastly caricature of DW. I do think McGann could be okay as the Doctor if he had some decent material to work with. He seemed to be quite lacking in personality in much of the movie. What I'd like is for the BBC to give McGann a series or two as the Doctor; either as a spin-off, or for when Nu Who is on hiatus (sort of like what they're doing this year).

If you can get hold of the Mcgann Big Finish Audio's C.R i'd highly recommend them especially the more recent ones featuring " Lucie Miller " as the [companion . I get what you mean about Mcgann's Portrayal In "The Movie " lacking any personality .. I found that a big problem with the subsequent 8th Doctor original novels .. I couldn't "hear his voice " so to speak ..

Hated the TARDIS interior. Wish they'd taken some of the money they spent on that set and done a little research. It seemed as though they thought just mentioning Daleks would be sufficient to tie the movie to classic DW. But it was entirely different in terms of tone, pacing, and characterization, even given that classic DW had many, many different writers and directors involved; a kind of not too grossly-distorted continuity emerged. But FOX's approach was to try to reinvent the show, rather than contributing to the established idiom. I can't say that I hated it; disappointment is a more appropriate description. Very disappointed that poor Sylvester had so few lines.
